My name is Laniyuk. I am a Larrakia, Kungarakan, Gurindji and French political creative and organiser. I’m one of the Larrakia women leading the grassroots campaign to Protect Larrakia Country and I’m writing to ask for your help.
In May 2027, the Federal Government plans to hand almost $2 billion of our hard earned money to fossil fuel billionaires to expand a polluting gas hub on Darwin Harbour. The gas hub is designed to fast-track fracking across the north and will increase Australia’s annual carbon emissions by 22%.
The good news is you can stop it.
Larrakia Country and the city of Darwin are special. The ability to catch dinner from the harbour, watch dolphins and manta rays on a sunset walk, and know the faces of your neighbours is something few capital cities in the world offer.
But all of this is at risk. The Middle Arm gas hub is already leaking toxic pollutants that doctors and environmental scientists have been sounding the alarm about.
That’s why we need a powerful movement calling for the government to divert that money from pollution to projects that ensure Darwin can become an even more vibrant, connected, and healthy home. With innovative and caring investment, Darwin can prioritise people and Country over corporate profits. It can be a place where fish flow from our creeks and seas, our air is safe to breathe, energy bills are low, and young people can focus on being children.

Once we hit 30,000 signatures, we’ll take a delegation of First Nations and Pasifika people to Canberra – communities whose lives, lands, and futures will be directly impacted if this project goes ahead.
